    • Il contesto: Dante e la sua guida, Virgilio, dopo aver superato la porta dell’Inferno (quella con la celebre scritta “Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch’intrate”), giungono alle rive di un grande fiume scuro: l’Acheronte.
    • L’apparizione di Caronte: Verso di loro avanza una barca guidata da un vecchio con i capelli bianchi per la vecchiaia. Il testo riporta in inglese i celebri versi di Dante (Inferno, Canto III, versi 76-84), in cui il traghettatore urla la sua condanna alle anime malvagie, intimando poi a Dante (l’anima viva) di andarsene.
    • La descrizione fisica: Caronte viene successivamente descritto come il barcaiolo della “livida palude”, con ruote di fiamme intorno agli occhi. Con il suo remo percuote le anime condannate che esitano a salire a bordo.
    • La critica dell’opera d’arte: Il testo conclude elogiando la tavola illustrata, definendola una degna introduzione alla serie di disegni dell’Inferno. Viene sottolineata la potenza della figura, l’oscurità del cielo, le rocce nere e il fiume turbolento le cui onde spumeggiano rabbiosamente contro la barca.

I versi inglesi citati nel testo corrispondono esattamente alle celebri terzine originali di Dante:

Shipping and returns

Shipments are FREE for orders of € 100 or more, otherwise they cost from € 5.00. You can request a return within 14 days of receiving the package
by sending an email to the address renato.salzano@gmail.com specifying
the relevant order number and the desire to withdraw from the purchase.
Products must be returned exactly as they were received
in order to allow its resale. The refund will be made with the
same payment method you chose during the purchase process within
14 days from receipt of the returned goods. Shipping costs
incurred both for the purchase and for the return, are the responsibility of the customer
unless the purchased product is defective or damaged or not
as described. For purchases over 100 euros
Free shipping costs will be deducted from your refund unless
that the product is not defective or not compliant with the description.
