La raccolta è particolarmente ricercata per la rappresentazione dei costumi pittoreschi dell’agro romano.
Ogni incisione è numerata, firmata e datata 1815, con il titolo della scena. L’ultima tavola rappresenta il riposo dell’autore tra le rovine, con il motto scolpito sulla lapide: “Tutto finisce”.
Le incisioni sono in ottima tiratura e molto fresche, senza macchie o foxing, sebbene al retro si possano notare alcune macchie di colore.

La basilica di San Zeno, conosciuta anche con il nome di chiesa di San Zeno Maggiore o chiesa di San Zenone, è un importante luogo di culto cattolico che sorge nel cuore del quartiere di San Zeno a Verona; si tratta di uno dei capolavori dell’architettura medievale.
Pictorial Cosmorama fu una rivista illustrata fondata a Milano da Giovanni Francesco Zini, avvocato. Molti degli esponenti della società artistico-letteraria milanese (Carlo Tenca, Alessandro Lampugnani nonché un esordiente Antonio Ghislanzoni) si accostarono al giornalismo facendo le prime esperienze sul «Cosmorama Pittorico», che ebbe il merito di essere la prima rivista in cui le illustrazioni ricoprirono un ruolo importante (novità questa che fu rimproverata da Carlo Cattaneo, che pure fu un collaboratore assiduo). Dopo il 1848 la rivista entrò in crisi e fu chiusa.
