Consalvo Carelli is considered one of the major exponents of the Posillipo School, a 19th-century painting movement. Born in Naples, Carelli learned the basics of art from his father, Raffaele, a well-known landscape painter.
Throughout his career, he received numerous honors, including being appointed painting master to Queen Margherita and professor at the Accademia di San Luca.
