Descrizione:
Splendida incisione di Stephen Of The Beautiful (1610–1664), uno dei più raffinati acquafortisti italiani del Seicento, attivo a Firenze e a Parigi. L’opera raffigura una scena mitologica pastorale: un satiro che guida la propria famiglia — figura maschile, femminile e bambini — in cammino verso sinistra, con un ritmo narrativo dinamico e sottile ironia. Il tondo concentra lo sguardo sull’intimità del gruppo e la loro appartenenza al mondo arcadico.

L’acquaforte è un eccellente esempio della padronanza del tratto di Della Bella, del suo senso del movimento e della sua capacità di fondere soggetti mitologici con uno spirito vivace e terreno. L’opera fa parte di una serie allegorica e fantastica in cui l’artista mescola elementi classici e satirici, spesso con implicazioni morali o allusive.

Il presente esemplare è nel secondo stato su tre, come da riferimento bibliografico standard, con impressione nitida e ricca di dettagli.
