Marcantonio Raimondi, nato a Molinella circa nel 1480 e morto a Bologna nel 1534, è considerato uno dei più importanti incisori italiani del Rinascimento.
Il suo stile, influenzato dalla tecnica niellistica, si esprime al meglio in opere come gli Arrampicatori e il Massacro degli innocenti, caratterizzate da una sapiente organizzazione del segno bulinistico e da una resa tonale raffinata.
